Tanner Structural Designs Ltd is a consulting engineering practice established in October 2006 by Hilliard and Stephanie Tanner. We are located in Fermoy in North Cork, Ireland, making us ideally located to provide consulting engineering services to the Munster region and further afield. We currently are involved in projects all over Ireland, England, Wales and Scotland.
Our principal engineer, Hilliard Tanner, is a qualified Civil and Structural Engineer, having qualified from University College Cork in 1997 and has extensive experience working in the industry since. He is a Chartered Member of both Engineers Ireland and The Institution of Structural Engineers. He is supported by a small team of engineers and draughtsmen.
We aim to provide high quality services in the areas outlined on our ‘Services’ page. We are continually looking at alternative materials and methods of construction, so that we can bring you the best solution for your project. We are involved in many cutting-edge type constructions, including passive houses, insulated foundations, Poroton block houses, hemp-lime as a construction material and render, breathable timber frame houses, etc.
We have experience of working as the sole consultant on projects as well as working as part of a full design team, thus enabling us to fit in with your requirements.

Hilliard leads Tanner Structural Designs with extensive expertise in structural engineering, low-energy construction, and innovative building methods. A Chartered Civil Engineer, he specialises in Passive House, insulated foundation, and timber frame solutions. His leadership ensures precise, efficient, and forward-thinking designs across diverse projects in Ireland and the UK.

Nick Bailey

Nick brings strong technical support to TSD, contributing expertise in structural detailing, project coordination, and drafting precision. He works closely with engineers to develop accurate timber frame, insulated foundation, and Passive House design documentation. Reliable, detail-focused, and adaptable, he helps ensure smooth project delivery across diverse low-energy builds.
